Today I have an interview with Author of Going Under, Georgia Coates! Thanks so much for being here with us today :)
Thank you having me as a guest. It is a pleasure to be featured today.
1. Describe Going Under in a tweet. (140 characters or less)
Intense romance between an ambitious boy from the wrong side of the tracks and a girl struggling to find herself outside her perfect world.
2. I love reading books from a guys point of view. Do you think it's easier to write a girl's POV or a guy?
Girl’s POV is so much easier. When you write from a guy’s POV, you have to choose if you’re going to write the way a guy would actually be thinking or if you’ll tone it down. What does this mean? Let’s face it. If I wrote the way a guy actually thought about women and sex, we probably wouldn’t like his character very much. I have to tone it down. A lot. And sometimes this comes off as unrealistic. There is a fine line to walk and finding the niche to it can be difficult.
3. Which of your characters do you relate to the most and why?
I am a cross between Claire and Payton. I find it difficult to deter from what my friends and family expect from me, so I completely understood that part of Claire’s character.
Most people that know me think I’m very humorous. I connected with Payton a lot because of her wise crack capabilities. I alway enjoy a great laugh.
4. Who are some of your favorite authors?
I really dig Shelly Crane. Her Significance Series is so FABULOUS!
I HEART: Quinn Loftis, M. Leighton, Abbi Glines, Jamie McGuire, Autumn Dawn, Amy Bartol, Angeline Kace, Fisher Amelie. The list could go on and on.
Me: Such a great list! I have Shelly's books coming up on my list to review! Now I can't wait :) and I LOVE Abbi Glines, I have read every single one of her books!
5. If you could go on your dream vacation, where would you go?
Tahiti, I think. I want to stay in one of those little thatch covered huts over the water.
Me: Man, that would be so nice!!
6. What is your biggest pet peeve? (writing or general)
It’s a writing peeve. It’s when I run out of inspiring music and I can’t find new stuff. Drives me crazy!
7. If we had an YA author talent show, what would your talent be? :)
Sleeping In Late. I can “lay up with it” (maybe that’s just a Mississippi slang word) when I get the opportunity, which isn’t often.
Me: Oh I can sleep in with the best of them! I am a total night owl
