In the future, only one rule will matter:
Gravity is such a cool concept. This whole don't peek thing? Yea, Ari breaks that in the first few pages. And then the book just springs off from there. The whole concept of "ancients" fascinated me. I dare say it might be my favorite take on aliens yet.
Jackson is pretty freakin' awesome. I liked him right away. He seems so secretive though. I feel like he was still keeping secrets up until the last page. I wish throughout the book he would have progressed towards being a little more open with Ari. Nonetheless, I thought Jackson was a great character- strong, kind, understanding, and smart. Ari too! She was just the right amount of rebel for me. And I can't even tell you enough how much I loved her standing up to her father and saying that it was his fault because he raised her to be a strong person that thinks for herself. I wanted to start clapping when I read that!
There are so many government secrets in this one, but the awesome thing was that unlike some of Jackson's secrets, I feel like we made some progress on figuring out what the government was doing. And it was awful, in an imaginative makes you think kind of way. I loved the pacing of the book and I really loved the romance in Gravity. It made me swoon a little everytime they would get together. But I do wish we got some more information on the "taking" process and on the patches. Just little things like that I wanted brought up and fleshed out. Helps create a fuller picture.
I am dying to know what happens in the next book. There were some twists and turns that I was totally not expecting in Gravity and it will be so awesome to see what happens next because of them. Fans of young adult dystopians and science fiction will really enjoy Ms. West's take on aliens. Gravity sucked me in and didn't let go. I loved the world building and the characters, and the plot line if ramped up at a perfect spot for an awesome second book!
